Delete Your Sound Mind Account
This page explains how to permanently delete your Sound Mind account and all associated data. Sound Mind is operated from South Africa. For questions, contact us at soundmindchannel@gmail.com.
Option 1 — Delete inside the app (recommended)
The fastest way to delete your account is from inside the Sound Mind app.
- Open the Sound Mind app on your iOS or Android device.
- Sign in if you aren’t already.
- Tap the Profile tab (bottom-right).
- Scroll to the YOUR DATA section.
- Tap Delete Account (red).
- Confirm by tapping Delete Account on the alert.
You’ll be signed out automatically. Your account and all of the data listed below are deleted from our live systems immediately. Residual copies in encrypted backups roll off within 30 days.
Option 2 — Delete by email
If you’ve lost access to your account or can’t open the app, email us at soundmindchannel@gmail.com from the email address associated with your Sound Mind account. Include “Delete my account” in the subject line. We will action the deletion within 30 days as required under POPIA and GDPR.
What is deleted
When you delete your account, the following are permanently removed from our systems:
- Your account credentials (email + hashed password)
- Your profile (name, email)
- All thoughts and journal entries from the 6-step Capture process
- All gratitude entries from the Gratitude Wall
- All favourited and custom declarations
- All belief check-ins
- All session history, streak counts, and personal statistics
- Stored biometric credentials on your device
What is retained
Under South African and applicable foreign tax law, we are required to retain certain records:
- Subscription transaction records — kept for the period required by tax law (typically 5 years). These contain only billing identifiers, not your personal content.
No other data is retained after account deletion.
What this does NOT do
Deleting your Sound Mind account does not:
- Cancel an active App Store or Google Play subscription. To cancel:
- iOS: Settings → [Your Name] → Subscriptions → Sound Mind → Cancel Subscription
- Android: Google Play Store → Profile → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions → Sound Mind → Cancel
- Remove the app from your device. To uninstall, long-press the Sound Mind icon and tap Remove App / Uninstall.
